2015 seemed to be the year of the rubber toe cap, but this shoe features a canvas upper and a suede toe cap. That being said, this was the only color-way of the Gilbert Crockett 2 on display so it is possible that other color-ways feature a rubber toe.
The two big differences from Gilbert’s first pro shoe and his second would be that on his second shoe there are more lace loops, which generally create a more snug fit, but can also lead to ripping your laces quicker since they go so low on the shoe. The second main difference is the addition of a toe cap, toe caps are usually added for two reasons, durability and style.
With this shoe not scheduled to drop until Spring 2017 hopefully Gilbert is working on some sort of ad or video part to come along with the release of his shoe.
